Job rejection can be one of the toughest experiences you face in your career. The feeling of disappointment, frustration, and self-doubt can be overwhelming.
But it's important to remember that rejection is not the end of the road; it's just a chance to find a better fit.
So, what do you do when you face job rejection? Here are some tips to help you plan your next steps...
Take a deep breath
First and foremost, take a deep breath! It sounds silly but you'd be surprised about how many people forget this step and go into the next frustrated.
Allow yourself to feel the emotions and process them. It's okay to be disappointed, but don't let it consume you.
Take some time to relax and de-stress. Engage in activities that you enjoy, such as reading, listening to music, or spending time with friends and family. Take the time to re-energise yourself and come back stronger.

Ask for feedback
One of the best ways to deal with job rejection is to ask for feedback.
Reach out to the hiring manager, recruiter or the interviewer and ask for feedback on why you were not selected. This feedback can be instrumental in understanding your strengths
and weaknesses and identifying areas for improvement.
We were helping someone get a new job, and they were rejected for a job at a startup. They were devastated, but then decided to reach out to us again and and ask for more detailed feedback. We asked the company and they were kind enough to give honest, detailed feedback about where they fell short. This feedback helped them in their next interview, which they received a job offer and have been there ever since and loving it!
Reflect on your goals
Reflecting on your goals is another way to deal with job rejection.
Ask yourself if the job you applied for was aligned with your long-term goals. If not, it's time to reassess your priorities and find a job that's a better fit.
Keep networking
Network, network, network! It's not just for business to business.
Networking is essential for finding new job opportunities, even after a rejection.
Keep in touch with the people you met during the interview process and continue to network. You never know when an opportunity will arise.
Before my recruitment days, I once met a recruiter at a networking event, and we hit it off. Although she did not have any open positions at the time, we stayed in touch. A few months later, she contacted me with an opportunity that was a perfect fit for me. I landed the job, and it turned out to be one of the best career moves I ever made.

Keep a positive attitude
Easier said than done, but it's important!
Finally, it's crucial to maintain a positive attitude. Don't let rejection bring you down. Instead, focus on the lessons learned and the opportunities that lie ahead. Stay positive and keep moving forward. Remember, rejection is not the end; it's just a detour.
Everyone faces multiple rejections in their careers, but if you never let them bring you down, and always believe that there is something better waiting for you, you'll find the one!
Job rejection can be challenging, but it's not the end of the road.
Take a deep breath, ask for feedback, reflect on your goals, keep networking, and maintain a positive attitude.
With these tips, you'll be back on track and ready to find the perfect job for you.
